For me, its kind of redundant. Also, I've been mind melded into an MVC mindset and can't see how this would be helpful to me.

Is there any speed gains in terms of page weight or loading times?

I dont have any numbers to back this up but: * templates get compiled to js * there is no magic the code you write is the code that runs

It feels faster because there is no interface between you and the template language - because there is no language its just coffee script.
